I grew up in a family that loved to eat. They still do. I have been heavy all my life and it didn't make my childhood easy. Within a couple years of getting married, I weighed nearly 300 lbs. I actually don't know where my weight topped out at because I hated stepping on the scale during that time of my life. I struggled with an eating disorder for years. In 2012 I weighed about 260 lbs. I developed an intolerance to dairy. I took that as a sign that it was time for me to change things in my life. I never knew what that decision would lead to. After losing about 40 lbs. I decided to that I would start running. After I ran my first 5K, I set my sights on doing a triathlon.
Since then I have ran many races, including 5Ks, 8Ks, 10Ks, 13.1s and triathlons. I have lost a total of 110 lbs. and now have my eyes set on running an Ironman Triathlon. A busy family life doesn't leave a lot of time for training but my goal is to make time so I achieve these things. My family is very important to me. My wife and I share all the responsibilities. I have an amazing support team in my family. I know now what it's like to lead a healthy life and it's something that I want to pass down to my children.
